TOPIC: Flower Arrangement and Presentation

CONTENT: Flower arrangement, or ikebana, is an artistic form, which features the branches, leaves, flowers, fruit, and roots, which are cut from the plants and processed artistically and technically based on certain laws. Ikebana, as work of art, presents the beauty both from the nature and daily life. Our country boasts of ikebana for over 3000 years, and it has been our major cultural heritage. The lecture will focus on the history, forms of ikebana, and also, it will end with the display of a piece of ikebana work which suits our family life.

LACATION: Lecture hall in the Teacher and Student Activity Center

PARTICIPANT: Faculty and students. People outside campus are welcome.

LECTUERER: Dr. Zhang Lu

LECTUERER INTRODUCTION: Zhang Lu, PhD, teacher in School of Architecture, ZJC. Zhang graduated from Beijing Forestry University, and is Senior Floral Artist, National Landscape Designer, National Certified Architect, and the member of China Association of Landscape Greening. Zhang, invited by the Royal Horticultural Society issued essays in its subordinate journal in 2013, and researched landscape plants’ application together with chief researcher from the Royal Horticultural Society and Pro. from AGRCAMPUS. Zhang published over 10 essays, 3 of which were selected by SCI, and participated in international landscape plant research and application seminar several times.
