Our College Held the 5th special lecture of“The Dream Lake Lecture” : Culture and Overseas Study in Europe

On May 27, the fifth lecture of "Dream Lake lecture hall" was held in the lecture hall 117, Xingjian building. Yan Zhenjiang gave a special lecture entitled "the end of cultural evolution -- a case study in foreign language learning", which was attended by nearly 200 teachers and students.

In the lecture, Yan Zhenjiang first introduced the relationship between the writing system and the civilization of great powers, and explained that the theory of evolution of writing is a model of western-centered linguistics. Then, he further explained the typology of characters in detail. Taking Chinese characters, Japanese kana and Latin script as examples, he divided the evolution of characters into three categories, namely morphemes, syllables and phonemes, and analyzed the four myths of the evolution of characters and the influence of the evolution of characters. Then, he points out the approaches to foreign language learning and overseas study from the perspective of the end of the theory of literal evolution and the prevention of the western-centered theory. Finally, he gave a brief introduction of studying abroad in Germany from four aspects, including teaching advantages, curriculum setting and requirements, employment prospects, and recommended universities.

After the meeting, President Li Penglin met with Yan Zhenjiang and his delegation.

About the keynote speaker:

Yan Zhenjiang, PhD in education and the ancient Germanic literature at the University of Munich, is a visiting professor at China university of geosciences. He served as vice President of new Oriental Shanghai, CEO of new Oriental Eurasia College, and overseas marketing director of German cornelsen Group. He has deep attainments in German teaching and overseas study.
