At 10 o'clock in the morning on May 4, the much-anticipated memorial meeting to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marx was grandly opened in the solemn Beijing Great Hall of the People. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC (Communist Party of China)Central Committee, president of the country, and chairman of the Central Military Commission attended the meeting and delivered an important speech.

A few days ago, the faculty of the Department of Ideological and Political Affairs studied and discussed General Secretary Xi Jinping’ s speech in memory of the 200th anniversary of Marx’s birthday. He reviewed Marx’ s contribution to the human cause, relived the greatness of Marxism in guiding China’ s revolution, construction and reform, and shared their own feelings and experiences. Everyone expressed their utmost respect for Marx, the greatest thinker in the history of mankind, and took practical actions to implement the spirit of the series of speeches given by the General Secretary of the General Secretary of the Peace Group. While strengthening self-study, we actively promoted and implemented it in teaching, scientific research and educating people, so that more students could thoroughly study and master The Basic Principles of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Three Represents, the Scientific Outlook on Development, and the Socialist Thought with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era of Xi Jinping.

At the beginning of the semester, the Department of Ideological and Political Affairs combined with the reality of Zhijiang College to carry out a series of reading activities to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marx. Teachers of the Department led students through the feast of Marxist theory and practice with professional knowledge and a historical perspective. Teacher Hu Xiaomin and the students reviewed the Communist Manifesto together. Zhu Minzhong and the students shared the governance experience of General Secretary Xi Jinping’ s administration in Zhejiang called Zhijiang’ s New Language. Dong Yong and Li Yonghong shared Xi Jinping's Seven Years of Educated Youth with students. Mr. Duan Yaofeng gradated the development history of World Socialism 500 Years for his students. Teacher Yuan Zhaorong  read the Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping for students and actively explored the context of China's modernization development and achievements since the reform and opening up 40 years ago.

Through a series of reading activities, students benefited a lot. The student of Yin Yinqun of the School of Humanities said that Marxism has been proposed for hundreds of years. In the ever-changing modern era, Marxist thought still plays an important role in our country and guides our country’s development. Liu Yang of the School of Liberal Arts said that we must learn Marx's spirit, have high ideals, be brave in pursuing truth, and not be afraid of hardships and dangers, and strive for a communist society! Move forward to the Chinese Dream and make unremitting efforts.
